The Ground Floor is DCMud's weekly column on new retail in the D.C. area
Z Burger: Scheduled to open in Columbia Heights' Tivoli Theater at 3333 14th Street, Z Burger owner Peter Tabibian said he anticipates "at least four months" of construction. "It's an old building and a huge space," he said. Z Burger will offer outdoor seating as well as a walk-up milkshake window.
Ann Taylor Loft: After closing its larger Georgetown store on M Street, the shop will open in a smaller space at 1239 Wisconsin Avenue in the former Miss Sixty this spring.
Rag and Bone: The New York-based men's shop will open at 3067 M Street in what is now MAC Cosmetics. Expect a late spring to summer opening, since the store will not have access to the property until April and will build out the space.
Anthropologie: Set to open this spring, the newest D.C. outpost will showcase its wares in a 10,662 s.f. space at 950 F Street. The shop had been considering the Douglas Development-owned space since 2008.
Seasonal Pantry: A butcher shop and gourmet market will open on 9th street in tandem with SUNdeVICH sandwiches. Owners Ali Bagheri and Daniel O'Brien got their start with sausage of the month, ice cream of the month and soup (wait for it) of the month clubs, and will feature high end pantry items, charcuterie and quality meats.
SUNdeVICH: this eco-friendly shop is slated to open this month at 1314 9th Street. With names such as Kingston, Madrid, Mexico City and Moscow, sandwiches offer a riff on flavors from cosmopolitan destinations around the globe.
