presentsVelour: Chef Tom Powers' newest creation next to Corduroy is now under construction. Even if Tripadvisor calls it a "scary location," locals are not dissuaded, and with the new restaurant and 3 new hotels all underway, even tourists are likely to frequent. The restaurant will serve pizzas, burgers, and hot dogs; "more casual dining," says a Corduroy rep.
Lost Society: Opening Friday at the corner of 14th and U. Designed to entrance visitors with the "Victorian underground scene," the restaurant will offer a full floor each of bar, restaurant, and rooftop deck.
Italian Pizza Kitchen: At 2608 Connecticut Ave. in Woodley Park, the restaurant offers the fast food equivalent of Italian street food in its newest location.
CVS - With the city in desperate need of another CVS, the drugstore chain will move its Woodley Park location to the vacant Long & Foster building at the corner of Calvert & Connecticut, capitalizing on the prominent corner and historic building.
Pitango Gelato: With locations in Logan Circle and Penn Quarter, the gelateria will serve more of the same on Capitol Hill at 7th and Penn., across the street from the some-day Hines Development.
Anthropologie: Douglas Development has signed the women's clothier at 950 F St in Penn Quarter, after recent openings in Georgetown and Chevy Chase Maryland.
Going Underground:
TenPenh: Once a revered institution on Pennsylvania Avenue, the seen-better-days Thai restaurant is closing on June 30 as owners work on their next concept.
Footlocker: Sneakers at 14th & U will be harder to come by as Footlocker closed its doors yesterday, another retailer booted to make way for a Utopian world as JBG closes in on construction.
