There is a huge difference between the density involved in creating an Adams-Morgan-style nightmare and the balance H St is seeking to promote. It's not going to be perfect, but just look at how many multi-story apartment buildings ring AdMo and U St. That can't and won't happen in the surrounding neighborhoods around H St - and it will only happen in a limited fashion on H itself due to historic preservation rules, lack of adequate setback, too-small alleys, etc. AdMo and U St lack parking and public transportation (well, except for the Metro on U) and H is addressing this by adding the streetcar. It won't be perfect.
