I'm curious about this one (East of Senate Sq.), because it is going to help define the gateway to H street from the Western part of the city.

The developers are moving forward (I understand), but they're very hush-hush on what they're doing so far.

It'll also affect the values of a whole bunch of properties on the 400 block of H (north and south). They're not on the market yet, but there's a bunch of local chatter about them being up for sale shortly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-60896149416309817172007-05-19T09:45:00.000-04:002007-05-19T09:45:00.000-04:00Is there one lot or two lots at 3rd and H east of...Is there one lot or two lots at 3rd and H east of Senate Square? The lot is split by an alley currently.

Oh, and the project across from Eastern High had a big sign describing the coming development last year. This year there's just a developer's sign (don't recall the name). There are a lot of boarded up yets there 9has to be 100's) so I suspect something pretty big is in the owrks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-29360949684718885142007-05-18T21:33:00.000-04:002007-05-18T21:33:00.000-04:00The lot east of Senate Square was supposed to be a...The lot east of Senate Square was supposed to be a rental building, approximately 190 units, with a Harris Teeter as the anchor retail. Harris Teeter pulled out of the deal months ago, but I don't think it affected the overall project. It was never intended as a condo project, but as for ground-breaking, I don't think we've ever been right in predicting them, mostly because the schedules never seem to stick.Kenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08295461340042242438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-13455193654663264862007-05-18T11:42:00.000-04:002007-05-18T11:42:00.000-04:00Cool beans!I'll be excited to hear about it. :o)Cool beans!

I'll be excited to hear about it. :o)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-38380624196016681882007-05-18T10:37:00.000-04:002007-05-18T10:37:00.000-04:00It is odd - I know that plot of triangle well, and...It is odd - I know that plot of triangle well, and have been wondering the same thing .... could be an odd angle, or a bad/old rendering ... plus it makes it seem it is in a park, when it is surrounded by road and the Mica and the Discovery building across the street next to Acorn park ....Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04094221849864840157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-9597010950849160522007-05-18T09:40:00.000-04:002007-05-18T09:40:00.000-04:00I don't get it. Abdo is parking a bunch of trucks there now, as they finish up the two projects on the Children's Museum site. However, that block is supposed to go up as apartments with a grocery store at ground level.

So... there's the Children's Museum (comprised of two projects), the Capitol Place project, and then the one I am referencing - all on the three corners of H and 3rd. The last corner of H and 3rd is a liquor store that simply won't sell out (even though the rest of the south side of the 300 block of H street has been sold to a developer).

Just wondering if anyone might know the status/name of the project I'm referencing....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-11295922644561481182007-05-17T14:36:00.000-04:002007-05-17T14:36:00.000-04:00Thanks for the comments. The first is Abdo’s Senate Square Landmark Lofts project, which is converting the old Children's Museum into 44 condos. Completion expected soon. This project will share a courtyard and amenities with Broadway’s Senate Square Towers. The two projects will share a 70 ft. rooftop pool, clubhouse and fitness center, and be part of same condo association. The Towers will be 432 condos in two 12-story towers (the Lexington and Concord). You can see more at: http://www.senatesquaretowers.com/home.htm
These two projects take up that whole block, so maybe this is what you are referencing?Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04094221849864840157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-37383339007482169752007-05-17T12:10:00.000-04:002007-05-17T12:10:00.000-04:00I'm a different person than anonymous, but I too l...I'm a different person than anonymous, but I too love this blog! I check it every day.

I was wondering about the 3rd and H place too, but on the western eastern side. The lot North of Capitol Place and next to the old Children's Museum. At one point, they were entertaining a Harris Teeter on the ground floor, but I hear that fell apart, as Teeter opted for space in a building in NoMa (off first I think). Any news on the 'other' 3rd and H?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-23518540041957831262007-05-16T19:33:00.000-04:002007-05-16T19:33:00.000-04:00Thanks for the feedback - you can always e-mail us...Thanks for the feedback - you can always e-mail us by clicking our names, or posting like you did here. The 3rd and H project is most likely the Capitol Place project (http://dcmud.blogspot.com/2007/04/
capitol-place-approved-but-
upzoning.html), which is going up across the street – is this it? As for development near Eastern HS (17th and E. Capitol), there are a number of small condo conversions over there … was it on E. Capitol itself? We can check it out!Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04094221849864840157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22305958.post-87770220395476116802007-05-16T17:31:00.000-04:002007-05-16T17:31:00.000-04:00OT - I was curious about the status of a couple of...OT - I was curious about the status of a couple of projects and I'm not sure where to post those questions, so I thought I'd do it here. Going to the Nats game on Saturday I noticed that the projects across from Eastern HS look ready for redevelopment - any word what's going in there? Also was curious about the project east of the Abdo development at 3rd and H and whether theyw ere going to break ground anytime soon. Thanks for the great blog!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
