For y...Well this ugly monstrosity opened up today. For years, I thought the Hirshorn was the biggest eyesore on the Mall. Today, this has taken it's place. It's very in your face and I'm certain that was intentional. It's completely out of place with all of the other architecture and blocks the view of the monument when you come down Constitution Ave towards the west. This is a part of American history and should be included with that museum. I think we're in for more groups calling for their own museums. It's just a matter of time before the remainder of the Mall is junked up with more projects like this one. I&#...I found this 6+ year old post while googling. I've lived at Carillon House for over three years now and it's a wonderful place. The renovated apartments are gorgeous. I have a city view but the embassy views are nice, too. The staff here is top-notch, especially Sharon (but they are all great). On the few times I've had to have something repaired, maintenance came quickly and fixed things efficiently. I even like my neighbors which is something that's just luck. The management office hosts special parties throughout the year. This new Skyland will be better.<br /><br />I don't want to see new people and the 'new politics' that come with them in Naylor Dupont, anymore than the next guy. I especially don't want to bring people in, who, when they get in - wherever they go - ultimately shut everyone else out, making it very difficult for DC natives to enjoy all of the new urbanist goodies of the new DC...but, what can we do?<br /><br />We can either grow, diversify and change or fade even further (if that is possible) into civic irrelevance, ensuring that we will be ignored, underserved and further disenfranchised by a Downtown that doesn't care about us. The ENTIRE library absolutely HAS to go AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
