How come this memorial and Hancock Park were allowed to break up the southern arm of L'Enfant's compass? Wasn't Maryland Ave designed to be a straight shot to Jefferson Memorial? DC can't build overheard wires or tall buildings because of L'Enfant's plan, bu the Fed can put up giant mesh garbage wherever they want. Weird.
