UDR's multi-family building in Columbia Heights broke ground in December of 2010 and has now topped out. Perched on the slope leading up 14th Street, the building should feature commanding views over the city from the top. The building takes the place of the Nehemiah shopping center, purchased by Level2, which developed the original plans before selling the project. The building was designed by Shalom Baranes and will have 255 units, built by Donohoe Construction.

Any talks yet of the commercial tenants?
This project is taking forever to build. Who is the general contractor?
I believe the GC is Donohoe. Can't say if this building is going up slow or fast, compared to other similar sites. But, as a resident on the 1300 block of Belmont, I can say that there has been tremendous levels of activity M-S from 7am though late afternoon.
Curious, too, about commercial tenants. Hopefully no ground floor office spaces.
I assume the lengthy time period of the project had to do with all the digging and shoring that went into setting up the underground components. It looked like the below grade portion went down about 6 or so stories. That's a lot of concrete to pour before even breaking grade.
I would love to see a grocery store as the primary business on this building
I know they're putting in a new YMCA in the building... a big plus since the only major fitness center in the area is Vida's new flagship.
"Columbia Heights"? It may be considered CH in some maps, but that neighborhood is clearly more associated with the U St corridor. Just sayin'.
Last post: Hmm, I'm not sure you're right. Its above Florida, that's CH to me. U Street is U Street. Show me where the delineation is...
There will not be a YMCA in this building. That's in a building down the street on 14th.
