While the District government struggles to rid Skyland of its owners and tenants in order to make way for a more contemporary shopping destination by turning it over to developer Rappaport, the outdated shopping center looks ever more dilapidated and forlorn.

Wow, that was my old stomping grounds! People should keep in mind that this shopping district never was really attractive even in the 1950's when this was still a 'white' area. The main strip held a Giant Food, Skyland Theatre & Dart Drug. The Anacostia Post Office opened as a Safeway in the 50's before moving to the larger location nearby. Giant Food also relocated to a larger store in the 60's (Murry Steak site). When Sears left the decay really started. Whatever happens, Walmart is not the answer. I would rather have an empty lot.
Enough with the Instagram filtered pictures please.
Instagram or not, the pictures look good to me. I've seen this place and it's an eyesore.
the Insagram actually makes it look better
I mean, if you want to make it look outdated, of course you'd use a filter that evokes age.
I love you guys, but can we go with real photography, please. Not editorial photography.
+1 IMGoph.
